THE IMPORTANCE OF CSIO EVENTS
The acronym CSIO refers to any FEI sanctioned competition which hosts a senior Nations Cup event. Most CSIOs offer multiple FEI Longines Rankings competitions, including the Nations Cup and a Grand Prix. The main event of a CSIO competition is the Nations Cup and Canada has always prioritized this event. The other classes play a key role in the development of up and coming horses and riders and in the honing of the skills of more senior horses and riders. They also afford an opportunity to any invited rider to compete for valuable ranking points which, in turn, boosts their world ranking and allows them the chance to compete at other high level shows. Attendance of CSIO competitions is crucial to a successful showjumping nation.
